baby business.

So.  It seems to be the season for being pregnant or having babies.  Although, I guess there is a distinct possibility that I’m uber-aware of bellies and babies now that I’m working back in the IVF industry.  Or, there just really is something in the water.   Continue reading

chicken lady.

So.  You may recall that last year we had a very clucky chicken and for some unknown reason I decided that it would be fun to get some fertilised eggs for her to sit on and grow some baby chicks.   Little Rhianna turned out to be a very diligent mother and she sat on those eggs for the next few weeks like it was her sole mission in life.  Continue reading

in a minute #2

So.  Welcome to my life in a minute #2 – an idea that I stole from Lizzie @ tablecloths and talking).  It’s kind of like a quick catchup over a cup of coffee.  Or even better, a glass of wine.  Continue reading

anyway…..

Don’t you just love it when something completely unexpected and lovely happens to you and it just makes your week?  Last night I was making a quick stop into my boyfriend Dan Murphy’s place on my way home when totally out of the blue I ran into an old, old friend (not literally) Continue reading

pretty fishy.

So.  My first little foray back into the catering world in many years is all of a sudden upon me this weekend.  Eeek!  But I did some more menu testing last weekend, and I’ve finally got a menu that I’m feeling pretty comfortable with.  Phew.

With the help of my fabulous sister Jess (as well as Mum, Em, Levi & Benno as willing guinea pigs) on Friday night we tested out an entrée and a main course dish, both of which turned out pretty well – although some of it was a bit trial and error as we were trying to re-create a recipe from one of Jess’s favourite restaurants on the coast (Rojo Rocket). dinner party dilemmas

So.  A few months ago one of my best girlfriends asked me how I would feel about doing some catering for a dinner party she was throwing for the 10th wedding anniversary of some friends of hers.  I didn’t have to think about it twice – of course I would love to do that – I’m always on the lookout for a creative outlet, especially seeing as I spend my waking hours as a government drone.  And a creative outlet that involves food?  Only my very favourite kind of outlet!

Now, I haven’t actually done any catering for a long time, but I gave that fact not a moment of thought.   I reckon it’s always pretty fun to create a menu and I’m pretty confident in the kitchen so I was feeling very much “she’ll be right mate” about the whole situation.   Fast forward to the present day, when the dinner party is in a couple of weeks and I’m starting to panic.  Ever so slightly.  Continue reading

its a pot holder frenzy

Lately I find myself making pot holders and giving them to my friends as presents.  I don’t know why I do this, I guess it’s because I like making them and there are really only so many pot holders that one can use – so it seems that the best thing to do when you have an abundance of pot holders is give them away.  Continue reading

in a minute #1

So.  It’s been a little while since I wrote last – mainly because things have been pretty busy and also I haven’t really felt like I had much to say.  Shocking, I know.  Anyway, the urge to blog has overtaken me today and I thought that I would do a little catchup-y thing (an idea totally stolen from Lizzie @ tablecloths and talking).  Plus,  I’ve noticed of late  that this kind of blog post is something that a bunch of other bloggers seem to use with much success, so this is basically me jumping on the bandwagon. re + blog….princess bride monopoly

This is definitely the lazy girl’s way to blog, but there was no way that I was going to keep this little piece of awesomeness to myself.  Seriously, I wish that someone would make this game for real, it would be the best thing ever.  Ever.

pieces + bits #2

So.  It’s been a little while between posts for me, I am in fact the queen of slack.  However, I offer the following excuses:

I’m currently in assignment hell.  I don’t know what I was thinking when I signed up for this Management Diploma, I was obviously completely out of my mind.  Not only is it super time-consuming, but it’s really, really boring.  Enough said.

Since the hatching of my baby chicks a couple of weeks ago I have had some serious farming duties to keep me occupied when I’m not studying.  Actually, even though looking after them can be a bit of work – mostly I just like watching them run around – they are so cute it’s ridiculous.  Did you know that chooks can totally talk to each other?  Well they can.  And the mother hen has a whole range of different clucking noises that seem to mean different things to the little chicks.  I could watch them all day, it’s just fascinating.

so much cute.
